About R&D for A Totally Unbiased History of the Wanderers According to My Best Mate

We’re looking for young people to help shape the Octagon’s world premiere production - A Totally Unbiased History of the Wanderers According to My Best Mate.

Join this FREE workshop and be part of the playwriting process.

The workshop will be run by the play’s writer Becky Prestwich (Waterloo Road) and director Ruth Allison (The Trials). Over the course of the practical workshop, you will not only learn how a play is made, but shape the script further by taking part in fun games and activities.

No experience needed, just lots of enthusiasm, particularly if that’s for theatre, creative writing or the Wanderers.

A Totally Unbiased History of the Wanderer According to My Best Mate will be performed in August 2027 by Young Octagon, the Octagon’s ambitious performance opportunity for young actors aged 16-25. Participants must have turned 16 before August 2027. For more information about Young Octagon, including how to apply, click here.

What is an R&D?

A theatre R&D means the research and development stage of a new show. An R&D is an opportunity to explore and experiment with the ideas behind a new show before it’s fully brought to life on stage. Through workshops like this, filled with creative exercises and trying out ideas together, you’ll help shape the story, characters and themes, and discover what the play could become.
