AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES

Helpful to customers who are blind or visually impaired.

With a live verbal commentary of the performance, describing the action, set design, costumes and facial expressions, all delivered through a discreet headset.

Assistance dogs are welcome, just let us know so we can book the seat for you, or the dog can be looked after by staff. Please inform the Box Office when you book.

We offer touch tours ahead of the audio described performance which provides an opportunity to experience the set, props and costumes used in the play.

TOUCH TOURS 

Touch Tours are available before every Audio Described performance. These tours allow blind and partially sighted audience members to familiarise themselves with the production ahead of the show.
During the Touch Tour, participants can explore the set, props and costumes through touch, and hear from the actors as they speak in character.

HEARING ASSISTANCE

At the Octagon we have two hearing assistance systems that are available in our main auditorium:

• Headset for in-ear hearing
• Loop system that connected to the 'T' setting on the user's hearing aids

Please note: Both of these systems do not work in our balcony, they are only compatible in our stalls. If you have any concerns or queries regarding these systems please contact our Box Office on 01204 520661 (option 2) or by emailing boxoffice@octagonbolton.co.uk

To use either system, please inform our Box Office at the time of booking. We will then have this ready for you at the Box Office when you arrive for the performance. 

ASSISTANCE DOGS

Assistance dogs are welcome at the Octagon. Fresh water will always be available for them. They are welcome to stay in the auditorium during the performance or the dog can be looked after by our staff. If you plan to bring an assistance dog, whether they’ll be staying with you in the auditorium or you'd like us to care for them during the performance, please inform our Box Office at the time of booking.
