Interested in getting involved in the Octagon? Passionate about sharing arts & culture in Bolton?

Then we have a great opportunity for you...

Get invites to shows and special events and have an opportunity to have your say as an Octagon Community Connector!

We believe theatre matters because everyone’s story matters and aim to entertain, inspire and engage as many people as possible through theatre. We are leaders in ensuring arts and culture thrive in Bolton working with thousands of young people and community groups every year.

During Bolton's Town of Culture year, we're excited to launch Octagon Community Connections, our new programme to ensure we fully embed Bolton’s community voice into our organisation. We are looking to recruit community connectors who are passionate about sharing and amplifying arts and culture at the Octagon and across Bolton.

We want our community connectors to be our representatives, to work with us to improve our engagement and reach across all communities in Bolton and support us in identifying and building new relationships. We are always looking to improve our services and will directly involving community representatives in promoting theatre activities, gathering feedback, consulting on activities and inputting into artistic direction of the theatre.

Our community connectors will act as champions, improve attendance and improve customer experiences for those from underrepresented groups, improve accessibility, enhance community relationships, and enrich cultural experiences. They will support us to highlight and remove barriers to visiting the Octagon and help improve inclusivity and accessibility.

We are keen to recruit community connectors from groups currently underrepresented in our audiences and activities. These groups may change in future and the scheme will widen to incorporate more connectors, covering more communities in Bolton. Our first callout is looking for connectors from four key groups:

  • People who have families with children under 10
  • People from South Asian Communities
  • People with lived experience of disabilities or access needs
  • Members of our affordable ticket scheme.

Collectively we aim to work towards ensuring our audiences reflect the diverse population of our town and everyone feels safe and welcome at the Octagon.
