Bolton at Home

Seeing red
Seeing red

Working with major partner Bolton at Home our shared goal is to use the arts to transform communities. We work together to develop projects to strengthen sustainable arts provision for our communities.

Through this partnership we have had the opportunity to work with tenants across Bolton at Home areas and these groups have worked alongside theatre professionals, developing interest and ability in performance, creative writing, production and direction, in addition to building confidence and communication skills, and achieving qualifications.

MELODRAMATICS

This is a women’s only group held at the Nebury Centre in Bolton. The group has in the past created a show called Seeing Red which used the members own experience of domestic violence to explore how even the simple act of choosing a bra can have devastating consequences for women in abusive relationships.

Cost: This is group is free to attend

Headspace

Headspace is an exciting and creative outlet for people with Mental Health issues, without direct focus upon these. It is a forum where people can freely express their unique traits, individuality and utilize their skills by primarily focusing on positive, personal, social and professional achievement and success and not on mental health. Headspace promotes positive change for the individual and challenges misconceptions often held by society.

We offer a programme of activities, all of which feature creativity at their core and are intended to support participants to develop artistic skills as well as developing confidence, peer support networks and challenging stigma. Sessions are run by professional artists from across the North West.

When: Fridays 10am – 12pm
Where: Octagon Theatre Bolton
