Sarah Tipple

Sarah is a freelance director and dramaturg working across theatre, musical theatre and opera. Sarah co-founded comedy Barbershop quartet Barbershopera and co-created and directed all their shows to date, two of which have been recorded for BBC Radio 4. 

Theatre includes:The Hypochondriac (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield); The Magician’s Elephant, The Boy In The Dress (RSC); Dirty Dancing (West End 2014/15, UK tour (2011 – 2015) and South African productions), The Pirates of Penzance (Saarbrücken, Luxembourg and Caen in Autumn 2015 and ENO in 2017), Urinetown & Company (Chroma Q Theatre, Leeds) Maybe I Will (Playhouse Theatre, Sheffield), Sunday in the Park with George, (Sherman Theatre, Cardiff) Acis & Galatea (ENO Studio Live), Curtains (Arts Educational), The Marriage of Figaro (OperaUpClose, Kings Head Theatre & touring), Barbershopera; Toni & The Guys (Plymouth Drum, UK Tour and BBC Radio 4) Barbershopera: The Barber Of Shavingham (Trafalgar Studios, Plymouth Drum, and BBC Radio 4), Barbershopera: Apocalypse No!. (Trafalgar Studios and UK tour) and Barbershopera: The Three Musketeers (Pleasance 2 and Plymouth Drum), The Snow Queen (Nuffield Theatre), Dirty Dancing (UK tour, South African tour & European tour), Annie Get Your Gun & Bay (Claire Studio, Young Vic), Greenstick Boy (Queen’s Studio Theatre, Belfast & Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh), Mad Funny Just, winner of the Old Vic New Voices award (Theatre503) and The Wrong Man (Pleasance, Edinburgh & Tivoli Theatre, Dublin).
