At the Octagon Theatre Bolton, we pride ourselves on delivering theatre that inspires, entertains, and brings people together. This year has been one of our most exciting yet, with sold-out shows, award nominations, and brand-new events lighting up our stage and thrilling audiences.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
We started the year with our stunning production of Animal Farm. Thousands of schoolchildren joined audiences for sold-out performances of this powerful show. Its success means we’re bringing it back next year—and taking it on a UK tour!
Little Shop of Horrors was a runaway hit, earning standing ovations and wowing audiences with stellar performances and dazzling production design.
The gripping new play Testmatch earned a nomination for the UK Asian Media Award, recognizing its innovative storytelling and cultural significance.

We launched the very first Bolton Comedy Festival, bringing top-tier talent to our stage, including Dara Ó Briain, Justin Moorhouse, and Catherine Ryan. The festival was a laugh-filled success, and we can’t wait to see it grow!
Our production of Brassed Off smashed box office records and welcomed 1000s of audiences to the Octagon for this beloved modern classic and has been nominated for a What’s On Stage Award — VOTE NOW!
The Jungle Book, our current production, has been receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences, enchanting viewers with its vibrant storytelling and imaginative staging.
