News Story

We did our work experience at the Octagon Theatre and had the opportunity to plan our own production of Dracula. Through this, we learned about many different departments, including directing, marketing, and even finance.

At the start, we had a tour of the theatre and met different team members who helped us with our project. We created a poster, worked on a website, and even designed a menu for our production. We also joined meetings and took part in workshops and groups, which showed us what a normal day at the theatre is like.

One of our favourite parts was visiting the costume department, where we designed our own costumes and made sketches. This helped us understand how much work goes into just one show.

During our time here, we kept thinking about the question: "What makes theatre?" We learned that it is not just the actors on stage, but all the people and work behind the scenes.

We are very grateful for this experience. Everyone at the Octagon was so kind and welcoming, and we learned so much. It is a really special opportunity that we think no one should miss.
