Children being creative in arts and craft

Next month families can enjoy a fun filled day of free activities at the Octagon Theatre as we celebrate World Book Day with a whole host of interactive storytelling and craft activities.

The Octagon World Book Day Family Event is part of our wider Sharing Stories community project which provides young people with access to the arts through co-designing storytelling, creative and literacy-based activities, and is funded by The Oglesby Charitable Trust.

Promising fun for all ages, on Saturday 2 March, join us for interactive storytelling sessions, become a storyteller in our family drama workshops, dress-up in the costume corner, get comfy and enjoy a book in the book nook, and get crafty with a wonderful variety of art and craft activities.

Fancy dress is also encouraged and welcome, with prizes being awarded for the best dressed characters from books.

Tickets for the Octagon’s World Book Day Family Event are free to attend but booking is required. There are two time slots available, 10am – 11:30am and 12pm – 1:30pm.

Family Engagement Lead at the Octagon, Taylor Barnes said: “World Book Day is wildly acclaimed across the UK, and we are excited to host our very first Family event to celebrate the day at the Octagon theatre this spring. We understand the joy storytelling can bring to families and the day promises to be filled with creative activities where families can explore stories and discover their favourite books together. We look forward to welcoming families into the Octagon Theatre and joining us in sharing stories together.”
