OUR WORK HAS REACHED THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE
Thousands of young people and families have taken part and enjoyed free activities over the last 12 months. From our Sharing Stories library tours, 3-day summer Family Festival, to our work in local schools bringing drama and creativity to pupils.
AN AWARD-WINNING YEAR
We don't do what we do for the accolades, but it is always an added bonus when we receive recognition and 2023 has been an awarding winning year for us and our team.
Back in January, our longest serving employee (a member of the Octagon team for an incredible 50 years!), James Whaite was the highly deserving and worthy recipient of the Unsung Hero Award at this year's The Stage awards which recognises individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their work in the performing arts industry.
Last month the Octagon won the Leading Arts & Culture Venue Award at this year's This Is MCR Awards which champions and recognises individuals and organisations rooted in Greater Manchester. Judges were looking for a venue that could demonstrate unique cultural experiences, strong community impact, clear social responsibility and the inclusion of young people.
A CELEBRATION OF OUR CULTURAL DIVERSITY
We have loved celebrating the wonderful diversity of our local communities this year, welcoming participants to take part in our Black History Month workshops and storytelling, Diwali craft sessions, Bhangra dance classes and more.
OUR FESTIVE FUNDRAISER WITH BOLTON AND COMEDY ROYALTY
We couldn't forget to mention one of the biggest events in the Octagon history that took place earlier this month.
Comedy legend and home-grown talent Peter Kay performed 3 sold out festive fundraising events, his first Bolton show in over 20 years - which was available exclusively for you, our Octagon subscribers.
AND FINALLY...
Finally, none of what we do, both on and off our stages, would have been possible without the unwavering support from our loyal supporters.
From dedicated Members and Patrons, our funders and corporate supporters, and all the generous donations from visitors and audiences – your kindness is what inspires, motivates and allows us to continue to play the vital role in the cultural fabric of Bolton.
THANK YOU.
Merry Christmas and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Octagon to make even more memories together in 2024.
