Octagon Theatre Bolton
Based on the novel by Harper Lee
Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel
Director Elizabeth Newman

'Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.'

Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel follows the struggle of lawyer Atticus Finch as he strives to defend a wrongly accused black man in 1930’s Deep South. Told through the innocent eyes of his fiery daughter, Scout, we witness how her small town is ravaged by racial prejudice.

Capturing the delights and mysteries of childhood, together with the pressures of Atticus’ fight for justice, To Kill a Mockingbird is as poignant and an important story now as it was when it was first written over 50 years ago. Join us as we bring the heat and intensity of the novel to our auditorium in this moving stage adaptation.

An excellent performance by all the actors including the 3 children. We really enjoyed it and felt quite emotional at the end of this thought provoking and sad story. Well done Bolton octogan.
