The Octagon bring festive cheer to local care homes

We are taking the show on the road in our latest community project.

Tinsel Tunes, an entertaining performance of festive songs, has been specifically developed to tour to local care homes and other venues that host people living with dementia as part of our ReAct programme.

ReAct, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, aims to improve wellbeing through creativity and increase arts opportunities among the over 50s in Bolton.

The show will be performed by professional musicians: Daneka Etchells (vocals, flute and sax) and Craig Anderson (vocals, guitar and mandolin) with Matthew Malone as musical director and Tom Crathorne as assistant musical director.

ReAct producer at the Octagon, Caitlin Gleeson said: I'm really excited to be bringing this tour to care homes and community centres to entertain their residents; music is great for wellbeing and we want to spread some festive cheer.

“We're building on the success of The Present, a show we toured to care homes in 2019. We are really glad to be able to tour this year as we know that care homes, their residents and staff have had a difficult time over the last couple of years. We've taken extra care to build this tour in a Covid safe way to keep both our performers and care home residents safe and comfortable.”

Tinsel Tunes will be performed at venues across Bolton from Mon 13 – Fri 17 December.
