Images from the rehearsals of the forthcoming production of Summer Holiday show the ensemble musical production underway. This will be the first time the musical has been staged as a promenade production on a bus.
The production’s cast features Michael Peavoy (Into the Woods, Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester and Sweeney Todd, West Yorkshire Playhouse); Eleanor Brown (Singin’ in the rain, Bolton Octagon/Salisbury Playhouse/New Vic and The Wipers Times, Watermill Theatre); Greg Last (Sweet Charity, New Wolsey Theatre); David Heywood (Sleeping Beauty The Rock and Roll Panto, Theatr Clwyd and Mike Leigh’s forthcoming film Peterloo); Isobel Bates (Oh What A Lovely War, Oldham Coliseum ); Luke Thornton (Dusty, Charing Cross Theatre and Footloose UK Tour, Sell A Door ); Sarah Workman (Three Minute Heroes, Belgrade Theatre ); Alexander Bean (Teddy, Southwark Playhouse); Robert Jackson (Threepenny Opera, Railway Children and A Christmas Carol, Octagon Theatre) and Barbara Hockaday (Singin’ in the rain, Bolton Octagon/Salisbury Playhouse/New Vic and Rebecca, Kneehigh ). All the cast will play additional roles.
The fun musical filled with well-known songs follows Don and his friends during a miserable wet British summer, fixing up a borrowed double-decker bus to go on an adventure to sunny Athens. Hop on board with the actor musicians who will take you along with them on a musical bus journey to the Octagon Theatre, beginning in the Bolton Interchange.
The production will be directed by Octagon Theatre’s Artistic Director Elizabeth Newman and Ben Occhipinti.
Summer Holiday will be playing at Bolton Interchange and Octagon Theatre between Thu 31 May – Sat 23 June
