Are you aged 50+? Then we want to hear from you…

Earlier this year we announced the launch of ReAct, a new two-year National Lottery funded project working with older people in Bolton to set up new arts activities.

Later this month we will be holding an informal discussion session where people aged 50+ can learn more about the project, share their ideas and find out about how they can get involved.

Ideas Café will take place on Wednesday 27 November from 12:45pm-2:45pm in our Market Place Participation Space.

The session will give participants a chance to hear from our Creative Engagement team about their vision for the project and also gain your invaluable insights.

Anyone aged 50+ is welcome to attend and refreshments will also be served.

Spaces for Ideas Café are limited. If you would like to attend please contact Caitlin Gleeson at caitlin.gleeson@octagonbolton.co.uk to confirm your place.

What is ReAct and its aims?

Building upon the Octagon’s strong grounding of older people’s engagement work and our large network of over 50s audiences and volunteers, the ReAct project will support older people to become leaders in developing engagement work for their own age range.

ReAct Producer Caitlin Gleeson said: “We’re really excited to be creating a new programme of activities for over 50s that’s led by what participants want. ReAct is based on the idea that it is older people themselves who are best placed to generate ideas for engaging others, act as ambassadors in the community, and to ultimately lead the future of the theatre’s engagement work with older people.

"The programme aims to improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness, and will include a variety of different activities for anybody over 50 who wants to take part.”

This £93,000 project will help the theatre to achieve a year-round programme of Dementia Friendly Performances, launch a new volunteering programme and extend the reach of our regular over 50s theatre group to new areas in Bolton.
