The Octagon are looking to meet actors with a registered postcode within 25 miles of Bolton who have at least one professional production credit and/or accredited drama school training.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
We are a producing theatre situated in the heart of Bolton and believe in reaching out to all of the communities that surround us in order to nurture and develop artists. With the recent appointment of our Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham, the Octagon is looking to widen our knowledge of local actors by holding General Auditions on Tue 28 & Wed 29 May at our base at the Market Place Shopping Centre.
General Auditions are not designed with a particular production or role in mind, but they are an opportunity for local actors to meet Lotte and the team in order to be considered for future opportunities.
Applications will open on Tue 23 April, and will close on, Tue 30 April, 6pm. To apply please send your CV/spotlight link and covering email/letter (max 200 words) which includes your name, email address, phone number and postcode to firstname.lastname@example.org or General Audition Application, Octagon Theatre, Floor 3, The Wellsprings, Civic Centre, Bolton, BL1 1US.
WHO IS IT FOR?
We are looking for local actors aged 18+ with a registered postcode within 25 miles of Bolton.
The Octagon has an integrated casting policy. We seek to cast actors from all cultural groups and of all ethnicities. We also seek to provide opportunities for actors with disabilities or impairments to be cast in our productions therefore we are prioritising applications from BAME and disabled actors. We will also prioritise meeting actors who we have not met before.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After receiving your application, we will let you know if you have been selected for an audition slot. Slots are limited but we hope to be able to see around 70 actors in total.
Each appointment will involve a 10-min relaxed chat/audition with Lotte Wakeham (Artistic Director), Catt Belcher (Producer) and Liv Barr (Production Administrator). We will ask you to prepare a speech of your own choice (max 2 mins) which is within your playing age and we will also ask you to read a short scene which we will send to you in advance.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide feedback once your audition has ended, so please ask any questions you have or solicit any feedback in the room.
We will then let you know as and when any future opportunities come up.
We look forward to meeting you
