Families be prepared to be entertained this summer with a tour of an outdoor show and a free family festival!
In July we see the return of acclaimed children’s theatre company The Fabularium who will be touring their show THERE BE MONSTERS! to outdoor venues in Bolton and surrounding areas (Fri 22 – Wed 27 July 2022). Join the hapless but noble knight Don Quixote and his long suffering, fortune seeking side-kick Sancha Panza on their epic quest to revive chivalry, confront monsters and seek to right what is wrong or accidentally wrong what is right!
There Be Monsters! is an outdoor heroic romp-around from acclaimed outdoor performers The Fabularium. As you meet these two iconic characters, you are invited on a journey like no other, with live original music, catchy songs, and plenty of audience participation that will deliver a fun yet thought provoking outdoor theatrical experience for all!
The tour will be visiting Moss Bank Park (Fri 22 July), Queens Park (Sat 23 & Sun 24 July), Atherton Laburnum Rovers (Mon 25 July) and Bradshaw Cricket Club (Wed 27 July), with performances at 1pm and 3.30pm each day. Tickets from just £7 for adults and £5 for children, so grab your picnic blanket and join the adventure with tickets on sale from today - book online or call box office on 01204 520661.
Later in the summer family fun comes to the Octagon’s town centre building with THE OCTAGON FAMILY FESTIVAL. This FREE festival will take place alongside Bolton’s Food and Drink Festival (Fri 26 – Sun 28 August) and is sponsored by Carrs Pasties. In consultation with local families the Octagon will create a varied programme of events for children and their families including craft making, storytelling, live performances, refreshments and more! All activities will be free, with bookable timeslots for some activities available across the weekend. With limited capacity we recommend booking early - book online or call box office on 01204 520661.
Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham comments: “I am delighted that we are offering this exciting programme of family events this summer. The Octagon has a proud history of providing children’s first experiences of live theatre with our annual festive show – now with this summer series of events and shows I hope we can reach even more children and their families. We want all children in Bolton to be able to engage with creativity; by taking work into communities and having free events, hundreds of families will be entertained by the Octagon this summer!”
