TV and Theatre Actor, Darren Jeffries returns to the stage as part of Octagon Theatre Bolton’s Reveal Festival 2018 starring alongside Helen O'Hara in new play Dear Nomad
Octagon Theatre Bolton is excited to announce that stage and screen actor Darren Jeffries will be performing alongside Helen O'Hara in Dear Nomad as part of the Octagon's Reveal Festival 2018.
Jeffries, who starred in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks between 1997 and 2007 and was part of the Andrea Dunbar last ever play ‘Shirley’ at Square Chapel Arts Centre, Halifax last October, will be returning to his home soil to perform in Dear Nomad.
Helen O'Hara, ICAT graduate, has previously performed at Z-Arts, Hope Mill Theatre and The Lowry and is making her Octagon Theatre debut in this new play as part of Reveal Festival.
Lottie Parker is a Top-Up Theatre Student at the University of Bolton. Lottie is originally from Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, and grew up with her local theatre. Lottie has recently completed placements with the Octagon, assisting on Jane Eyre and supporting the Dementia project.
Lottie says "I am really excited to be working with such a creative and welcoming team. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have received with the Octagon Theatre".
Dear Nomad follows the journey of young couple Trude and Hans as they try to find a sense of belonging in their new home in England, having been torn from their native Austria by the Second World War. Trude and Hans are torn between the fresh mountainous comfort of their native country and the opportunity to have their own family and sense of stability in Oldham. The play is directed by Octagon Supported Artist and Bolton University student Cara Novotny and written by Samuel Edney.

REVEAL Festival presented by the Octagon and will be showcasing new and exciting theatre outside and online between Mon 23 April until Sat 4 May 2018.
The festival includes eight original and exciting performances showcased across two weeks: including three online pieces and five live theatre performances in a variety of locations outside the theatre. REVEAL is a fantastic opportunity for audiences to experience the work of emerging theatre-makers and established artists in different spaces across Bolton.
This year includes a huge variety of shows, including a new children’s performance targeted at 3-7 years olds, as well as work in progress performances from emerging artists and work from established theatre companies that tackle challenging issues such as human trafficking, sexual violence, and masculinity.
Associate Producer Deborah Dickinson said: “We are thrilled to be presenting our third REVEAL Festival, offering audiences an opportunity to experience compelling, original theatre in alternative spaces across Bolton. REVEAL is a chance to see work that pushes the boundaries of what theatre can be and showcases exciting new theatre makers as well as established artists.”
