Meet the cast of our comedy adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles coming to the Octagon in July!
We are delighted to announce the stellar cast for our first main house production, THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES.
This smash hit comedy adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic adventure, directed by Lotte Wakeham and adapted for the stage by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, will open to audiences from Thu 1 July – Sat 7 August.
All making their Octagon debut, a trio of talented actors star in this brilliantly farcical production of Sherlock Holmes’ most popular case – with the three actors bringing an epic cast of characters to life.
Leading the case as the famous sleuth, Salford born actor and Octagon Youth Theatre alumnus Reuben Johnson stars as Sherlock Holmes. Reuben’s impressive theatre and screen credits include There is a Light That Never Goes Out (Royal Exchange Theatre), the UK tour of the National Theatre’s production of Macbeth, as well as Doctor Who (BBC).
Joining Reuben as Sherlock’s most trusted colleague is Simon Kane as Dr Watson. Simon’s recent credits include the BBC Radio 4 comedy sketch show John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme and the latest season of BBC comedy Ghosts.
Completing the cast, UK Theatre Award winner Polly Lister will play Sir Henry Baskerville. Polly’s credits include the Northampton Theatre Royal, UK tour and West End production of the Olivier Award-winning production of Worst Witch Live, The Snow Queen (Stephen Joseph Theatre) and Blue Stockings (Storyhouse Chester).
As well as their principle roles, the three actors will also play numerous other roles in this farcical comedy tour de force.
Our Artistic Director, Lotte Wakeham commented: “I am delighted to announce the cast for our first full production. All three actors are incredibly talented performers and I am really excited to work with them. The Hound of the Baskervilles is an incredibly fun, fast-paced show and this adaptation brings a farcical twist to the classic Sherlock Holmes story, with quick-fire costume changes and many other surprises. I can’t wait to share it with our audience this summer.”
The creative team includes: set and costume design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Derek Anderson, sound design by Andy Graham and assistant direction by Francesca Tennant.
