Beautiful Bolton – We are searching for your favourite Bolton views

We're aiming to challenge assumptions about Bolton to find the beauty of the town in the industrial and rural landscapes that residents love.

We are producing a short film that will celebrate the varied landscapes of Bolton and the diversity of the people who explore it. The film will be created from submissions from the local community and anyone living in Bolton can submit a photograph and memory to contribute.

Head of Creative Engagement Imogen Woolrich explained why making the film is important: “Many people outside of Bolton have assumptions of what the town is like, from seeing the town on the news during the pandemic, to hearing stories of shops closing in the town centre – sometimes Bolton can get a bad press! Having lived and worked in Bolton since childhood I know Bolton has so much more to offer – from the dramatic moors of Winter Hill to the iconic steeples of the mills – there is a huge amount of beauty right on our doorstep. I hope this film will help to celebrate the wonderful and varied landscapes and people of the town and I can’t wait to hear from the community. I really encourage anyone living, working or studying in Bolton to get involved!”

To get involved email us a picture or a video of a view in Bolton that means something to them, with a brief description of why the view means something to you and indicate whether you would be interested in appearing in the film themselves.

A selection of the submissions will then be used to help create a short film, with some location filming set to take place on the Fri 17 and Sat 18 June 2022. The deadline for submissions is Tue 31 May 2022. If you would like to get involved or to find out more email
