Storymakers Challenge

Get Creative with our StoryMakers Challenge and create your own short StoryMakers story.

Following on from our Setting the Scene for StoryMakers blog use Alex’s tips below and try and adapt yours or your children’s favourite fairy tale and create your very own StoryMakers.

Pick your story and follow these 5 handy tips:

  • Read the story a number of times and highlight the key themes and plot points
  • Decide which parts of the story would be most exciting to watch
  • Develop these themes and elements of the story to create your script
  • Pick some favourite music and sing-a-long songs to accompany the story
  • Most importantly: HAVE FUN!

Or follow these handy tips to enhance every story-time to help make books come alive for your children:

  • Think about questions you can ask about the story and other ways children can get involved in the action
  • Try and come up with different voices for each character
  • See if there's way you could tie in other activities with the story e.g. decorating biscuits if you're reading The Gingerbread Man
  • And again, most importantly: have fun!
