“In 1972, we came to UK as a refugee...when Idi Amin...ask all the Asians to leave the country in ninety days.”

Ganshyam came to Bolton in 1973 and found a job at Eagle Mill.

Starting off as a spinner, he diligently worked his way up, undertaking additional technical training, to eventually become a production manager.

His stories include vivid evocations of mill life in the 1970s and ‘80s, the camaraderie and social life of mill workers, as well as tensions between both workers and management, and workers of different backgrounds, the 1982 mill fire and the sad, eventual closure of Eagle Mill.
