Black History Month Creative Writing Workshop: Writing from a Historical Perspective
About Black History Month Creative Writing Workshop: Writing from a Historical Perspective

If you’re interested in making drama from real life historical events, join us at the Octagon for a writing workshop with theatre company Stockroom to explore writing for the theatre using history as a starting point.
The workshop will run from 11am-2pm at the Octagon Theatre on Monday 30 October and is FREE to attend as part of the Octagon’s Black History Month celebrations.
Workshop participants will then be invited to watch a read through of the play in development, ‘The Battle of Bamber Bridge’, written by Stockroom writers and based on the real-life story of a local historical incident of civil rights activism, just up the road from Bolton in Bamber Bridge.
The read through with a full cast of professional actors will take place at the Octagon Theatre on the Thursday 9 November.
To book your place, please email participation@octagonbolton.co.uk. Please let us know if you have any access requirements so we can support you to attend.
