Works continue at the Octagon Theatre as preparations are made for steelworks to commence - we share with you the latest images from our ongoing project.
The latest work includes laying the foundations for the new building in the ground before the cranes arrive and the steel structures are to be installed.
The building currently represents it’s original footprint, before any extensions were added, and although many parts of the theatre are now un-recognisable, we are keeping much of what makes our unique auditorium such an intimate and atmospheric space.
The work has been undertaken to make the town centre building more accessible than ever before, thereby increasing our capacity to work with young people and the community and improving audience experience and comfort.
Through this redevelopment we are taking steps to ensure the sustainability and artistic excellence of the work in our community and on our stages.
There will be significant changes to the building including a new entrance and revamped café and bar areas. Find out about more about the changes.
