Mon 14 November 2016 marks the start of Captioning Awareness Week and we aim to help raise awareness of captioning within the theatres. Audiences with various forms of hearing loss could have their theatrical experiences transformed by captions and live subtitles. We spoke to our Captioner Claire McIntyre about captioning performances and why it's such an important service for our audiences and to the theatre industry.
At the Octagon, we are always striving to push the boundaries of theatre and to hear from perspectives that we don't often hear from. That's why we commissioned three writers to write one full scene each, telling the story through Tom's eyes.
To create Maycomb here at the Octagon is not without its challenges, especially when the auditorium is in-the-round. We spoke to award-winning designer Amanda Stoodley, who has captured Scout Finch's world with a beautiful set and carefully crafted costumes.
